Keep a program out
An ignore group names programs that Input.Observer leaves alone. In their windows the right mouse button and your typing go straight to the program: no gestures, no text expansion, and none of your actions run there, Global's included. The starter set already ignores Remote Desktop and common virtual machine and remote control programs.
Create the ignore group
- Start the program, so it has a window.
- In the configuration window, click Quick create… (or press Ctrl+N), choose Leave a program alone ①, and click Next.
- Choose the program ②, or use Point at a window or Browse… as on An action for one program. If the program already belongs to an app group, a note names the group whose gestures, hotkeys and typed shortcuts stop working there. Click Next.
- Keep the suggested name or type your own, and click Create and apply ③.
The new ignore group is on the Ignore groups page. Ignore groups are checked before every app group, so the program is left alone even if an app group also covers it.
A hotkey that is reserved with Windows still takes its key combination away from every program, ignored ones included: the program never receives those keys, and the action doesn't run there either. See Hotkeys.
For a game: pause everything while it has focus
- Open Ignore groups and select the group.
- Turn on Only while the window is fullscreen ① if the program should be left alone only while it fills the screen, and treated normally the rest of the time.
- Turn on Pause everything while focused ② to switch Input.Observer off completely while a window of this group is in front. It switches back on when another window comes to the front. With ① on as well, it pauses only while the window is fullscreen. While it is paused, the tray icon's tooltip names the group. A pause you set yourself from the tray always wins over this one.
- Click Apply.
See Ignore groups for every rule, and The tray icon for the paused state.
